The Hill-side
The Hill-Side is named for the street that brothers Emil and Sandy Corsillo grew up on, Hillside Avenue. Their products use utilitarian fabrics not commonly found in neckwear: selvedge chambray, hemp/cotton blend selvedge denim, left-hand twill, organic colorgrown cotton, and waxed canvas. The Hill-Side sources the majority of its fabric from Kojima, Japan, where the best denim in the world is lovingly produced with artisanal pride. Each tie and handkerchief is hand made at a small factory in Manhattan that traditionally produces canvas and leather bags. The Corsillo brothers embrace the durability and ruggedness that the heavy-duty machines give their products. Whereas a traditional tie-maker would create something much more delicate, they sought out an assembly process that would complement the tough materials they use.
