Vena Cava

Brooklyn-based designers Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai have been designing together since their graduation from Parsons School of Design in the spring of 2003. Their inspirations come from their own vintage collections and their unique personal style. They prefer simple designs enhanced by subtle, feminine details and elegant fabrics. Hand-drawn prints inspired by such past masters as Erté are another Vena Cava signature. Each piece has the feeling of a special heirloom. The designs are graceful and pretty, but each maintains a youthful edge. (As for the name: the superior vena cava and inferior vena cava are the veins that return the blood from the body into the heart.)
