minä perhonen : i butterfly

Here at Bird we are obsessed with any and all things Japanese (socks, nails, food…you name it!). So it is no surprise that one of our favorite labels at our Cobble Hill store is Japanese transplant Minä Perhonen, designed by textile genius Akira Minagawa. Minä Perhonen, which means “I butterfly” in Finnish, signifies Minagawa’s wish to make beautiful designs, “like those of a butterflies’ wings”. Minagawa sure does make that wish a reality with each collection he designs! We are proud to be one of the very few stores in the US to house the beautifully ornate designs that are Minä Perhonen.
