K. Jacques: Standard French
K. Jacques was started in 1933 by Mr. & Mrs. Keklikian Jacques, Armenian refugees who began working as shoe manufacturers in Saint Tropez out of necessity. The original factory still exists today, and employs just 25 people. Each sandal takes 60 hours to complete, but will last you years and miles of wear. Park Slope staffer Thea has had her pair for four summers and counting, and probably won’t buy another out of necessity for the next four, although she might give in to one of the styles she’s wearing above. All she needs now is to be on a yacht in the south of France…
