Le Grand Fooding 2011
Le Grand Fooding in New York City, from French gastro-group Le Fooding, has begun!
The first event? A Campfire Session on September 17 in the Elizabeth Street Garden, set to explore the relationship between food and music, including performances from James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, Sondre Lerche, Muhsinah, Nancy Whang, and DJ Mehdi and chefs Iñaki Aizpitarte (Le Chateaubriand, Paris), Wylie Dufresne (wd~50, NYC), and Dante Gonzales (Dante Fried Chicken, LA).
But not to worry–if you missed the Campfire Session this past weekend, there’s plenty more grub goodness to be had. The second event, Exquisite Corpse, runs from September 23-25 around the clock! Essentially a 52-hour pop-up restaurant run by a different chef every four hours that sits 40 guests at a time, and held at the Honey Space restaurant in Chelsea, it draws inspiration from the ‘exquisite corpse’ tradition of the Surrealists. Each chef uses stock from the previous chef’s meal in his own dishes, and so on.
The roster includes Kobe Desramaults (In de Wulf, Belgium), Armand Arnal (La Chassagnette, France), Ana Ros (Hisa Franko Casa, Slovenia), Sat Bains (Restaurant Sat Bains, U.K.), Blaine Wetzel (Willows Inn, San Juan Islands, Washington), Hugue Dufour (M.Wells, NYC), Fulvio Pierangelini (Hotel de Russie, Italy), Brooks Headley (Del Posto, NYC), Mauro Colagreco (Le Mirazur, France), Adeline Grattard (Yam’Tcha, France), Corey Lee (Benu, San Francisco), and Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana, Italy).
Tickets for seatings on September 23rd are sold out, but to get tickets for the other dates and for more info, head to the Le Grand Fooding website.
